This shop combines London cool, French chic and Eastern minimalism, but strangely isn’t as bustling as other apparel/interiors/lifestyle shops in the area. Owned and operated by two half Cambodian, half-French sisters, Aimé is refreshingly lacking in gauzy bohemian skirts or quaint knick knacks. Instead, this low-key and stylish two-level lifestyle shop concentrates on simple, neutral Eastern-inspired ceramics and homeware and an excellent collection of well-selected French labels featuring crystal jewellery, soft leather jackets, simple T-shirts, APC-style trousers and tops, and seasonal items. Don’t expect any ethnic garb here; designers include Isabel Marant (check out this winter’s light tweed dresses), Les Prairies de Paris and Aimé’s own label. Home accessories include candles, ceramics, photo albums and French toiletries -- but I would most like to receive their collection of Asian-style cracked porcelain plates for Christmas.
