G&G have a loyal following in three hip London neighbourhoods (Primrose Hill and Chelsea in addition to Notting Hill) who appreciate an eclectic choice of unpretentious, beautiful and on the whole, reasonably priced goods. Antonia Graham’s highly respected shop first opened in the 70s, and she’s still the person responsible for sourcing her stock from all over the world; her son has also joined the business, contributing a young eye to both stock and display. The result is the best in home and garden accessories (no. 7) balanced by trendy womenswear (no. 10) and even novelty and ironic items at no. 4. Emphasis is on comfort, quality and luxury, so you run the gamut from pashmina robes to raw silk comforters, from a goat skin rug to a silver leaf 40s-style dressing table; the womenswear shop is now a bonafide multi-designer store stocking Betsey Johnson, Erotokritos, Orla Kiely and even those Shopgirl diamante Playboy vests. Candles, lamps, sari covered notebooks, leather photo albums, ethnically inspired luxury garbs and loungewear, lacquer dining ware, throws, vintage chandeliers and bits and bobs (cards, pepper lights, wrapping paper) means this could seriously be your one-stop shop – or technically, three-stop shop.
