You might not even notice the cool sales assistants in the corner of this basement boutique, who won’t bother you unless you ask, in which case, they’ll be more than happy to tell you about all that is hip and upcoming in London. Co-owner Pippa Brooks (her partner is Max Karie, a London DJ), rock chick and hip London girly, has all the street cred you need to take her stuff seriously: she plays in a cool band called Shopgirl, designs a few key items each season under a label of the same name, and will soon be seen in the buff in an upcoming issue of Playboy. (An ironic gesture, surely.) At the moment, the “girly rack”, as I like to call it, is appropriately full of her Damart vest and knicker sets, emblazoned with a tiny diamante Playboy bunny (Heff apparently saw her performing one of her songs in the actual bunny uniform and asked her to pose for his magazine.) Before, this rack used to be full of girly, but much more ladylike Tocca dresses. The other two racks focus on urban casual wear for mainly women, with a few men’s pieces thrown in and include labels like Sofia Coppola’s Milk Fed. still worth a look
