Harari's West Hollywood location (there are two others in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica) is more like yin and yang than zen-like harmony. Sure, there's a gurgling fountain when you walk in and a makeshift tea garden with buddhas and bamboo, but step outside the meditation zone and you've entered the land of excess. There are feathers and velvet, beads and bobbles, sequins and organza, colorful scarves, beaded pashminas, flamboyant coats and ornate jewelry, not to mention blaring late-'60s pop music. In the middle of it all, a giant king palm tree roots the store exactly where it belongs: not in the exotic Far East, but deep in the heart of Los Angeles.
