Who knew pottery could be so fun? Two years ago, thirty-something ceramicist Jonathan Adler opened a 400-square-foot SoHo shop that displays just how hip "throwing" pots can be. Funky pieces like an "Aorta" vase, included in his "Couture" Collection, and ostentatious seventies-esque lamps are making Adler's art the talk of the town. Blatantly retro or subtly futuristic, each piece has a magnetic quality: Whether it's a "Baby" vase in his Stripe Collection or a magenta Alpaca throw, his artwork has an uncanny way of calling to you--of forcing you to ponder its placement in your own apartment. Prices are surprisingly reasonable and the staff is friendly.
