Device Kyoto

Unlike with other chain stores, the Kyoto Device is the original store, and the Tokyo branch is the offshoot.  Like the Tokyo store, Device offers both rough street wear and avant garde imported designers.  Epitomizing the glam unisex look, for now at least, are giant portraits of Michael Jackson from his Thriller days, painted directly on the wall graphiti-style.  Device is a lifestyle store, and the lifestyle it sells might have the hard-edged look of the Bronx, but it has the cachet and prices of Tribeca.  Hip hop moguls, DJ’s and extreme sport stars can afford this urban look, but real hard-core city dwellers?  Not a chance.
