Brace yourself.  The next three words will make you blush.  The Tender Nob.  At first you'll wonder if it is an adult film, or a rejected Danielle Steele title; but when you learn it's actually one of San Francisco's newest stomping grounds for eclectic shopping, you'll have your plastic out faster than you can say cable car.  The Tender Nob is loosely defined as the base of Nob Hill, where a diverse and lively neighborhood meets the periphery of the Tenderloin.  Here, a slew of cultures mingle vibrantly with the hustle of downtown and the elegance of the great hill above.

Stroll down Sutter Street and get your fix at Sugar, Michael Page's creative assembly of modern accoutrements for the home.  Think milky white surfaces, funky silhouettes and brilliant color schemes.  The store decor is as clever and stunning as any of its products, with Jonathan Adler pillows strewn about in perfect visual harmony.
Now at Sugar:
- Kartel furniture and accessories for the home such as mini 3-drawer unit ideal for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

- Jonathan Adler pillows and pottery.  In keeping with Sugar's purity-inspired color scheme, Page chooses stunning Adler pieces in varying shades of blue, gray and white.

- Ceci ceramic and aluminum pottery

- David Brunicardi (of Element107)  - Lucite and wood tables, lighting and storage
Adjacent to Sugar you'll find Shine, a colorful collection of accessories, handbags shoes and jewelry good enough for the prepster and the wild child.  With over 25 designers in house, owner Tristran Cameron captures a coquettish and playful vibe with more than reasonable prices.

Now at Shine:
- Cynthia Rowley (footwear)
- Zeitgeist (footwear)
- Nancy Nancy (footwear)
- Capucine (footwear)

A great sense of humor is underscored by an even better sense of taste at Space 550, what owner Brent Hass calls a "non-retail retail environment."  Upstairs, Hass styles hair at his salon; downstairs, it's lifestyles he offers.  Boldly displayed is a global mélange of eccentricities for the body and the home, including hard-to-find Japanese cosmetic products, Vivienne Westwood rocking horse boots, and spaceprojekt's own line of specially cut and sewn t-shirts.

At Space 550:
- Benoit Missolin illustrated T-shirts with logo.  Missolin has worked for Thierry Mugler, Jean Colonna and Christian Lacroix before he began experimenting with his own collection, which is now available at Space 550.

- Komenuka Bijin is a high-end, hard-to-find, all-natural line of skin and haircare products from Japan based on the cleansing power of rice.  All products are biodegradable and the packaging recyclable.

- Gino Gianneschi is a lighting designer with a variety of fixtures ranging from traditional lamps to glowing tables, vanities and bookshelves.  His pieces are retro-futuristic and are exclusively available at Space 550.

At Utopia Planitia, design duo Minnie Yeh and Charles Burrows successfully merge the future and the past through an array of exclusive handpicked jewels, handbags and apparel by young, emerging designers from around the world.  Punk-inspired cuffs contrast playfully with structured boy-cut button-downs-pair them together for a naughty tomboy look.

At Utopia Planitia:

- Hard-to-find magazines such as Free, Index, Spruce, Surface and Tokion.

- Creative and colorful hair accessories by the queen of the crown, Colette Malouf.

- Perennial favorites such as Three Dots t-shirts, We Live Like This bath and body products, Tote Le Monde handbags.
